I’ve been seeing Megan the Hair Goddess for over 3 years now, and every single appointment feels like a power-up for my soul and my scalp. I walk in feeling “meh” and walk out feeling like a damn supermodel in a shampoo commercial. No joke. I deal with hair loss, and finding someone who understands that AND doesn’t destroy my hair in the process? Practically impossible. But Megan? She’s a certified hair wizard. I am so happy that I found The Extensionist. I had been using extensions that use bonds and not only were they ridiculously expensive, but it was clear that they were destroying what little hair I had left. Since coming to The Extensionist (for about 1.5 years), my hair is finally getting back into shape after the previous damage. Plus, it looks amazing! There are so many great things I can say about this place. Their staff is friendly and well-trained. If you cannot see your regular person, it’s okay because any one of them can step in and do a fabulous job! They will colour match your hair, trim it up to blend perfectly with the extensions, and even style it before you leave. I love that the hair is re-usable. I have replaced my extensions only once. I even had a hair piece made for those days when I’m in a hurry and still want to look my best. And for an added bonus, they are dog friendly and I always get to meet furry friends when I am there.

I’ve been a client of The Extensionist for about 3 years now. I’ve had thin hair my whole life, and have never loved my natural hair. My first introduction to The Extensionist was with their peekaboo package, which was a game changer for me! It’s the perfect amount of extensions for my hair. (Giving some extra fullness without going too crazy on length, and still looking totally natural). The once a month touch ups are a breeze. Super easy to maintain, and best of all, it hasn’t caused any damage or loss to my actual hair. While I love the peekaboo extensions (and still currently have them), the past few years I had been growing more self conscious about the hair thinning at the top of my head. About 6 weeks ago, I got one of the clip-in mini crown hair toppers. To say it’s been life changing is not an exaggeration! It takes me ten seconds to clip it on each morning, and every day I feel like I just had my hair done. The amount of “getting ready” time that it saves is huge, but you simply cannot put a price on the confidence it gives you. I can’t imagine being without the topper now. It’s an amazing feeling for the first time in your life to not have to worry about how your hair looks! The mini crown topper is super light and comfortable to wear. No one would ever know you are wearing it. (Every time I show someone they can’t believe how natural it looks). If you’ve been on the fence about getting a hair topper (like I was), this is your sign to book a consult!! You won’t regret it. I cannot recommend The Extensionist enough. Megan and her team do amazing, life changing work!

I’ll start by saying I’ve been a die hard blonde my entire life. Not a sandy, light blonde- a silver, white, impossible to maintain and colour match type of blonde. My hair is thin and at my collarbone for length.Due to personal reasons I haven’t been to a salon in YEARS. After my pregnancy, my confidence was gone, my hair was even more thin then before, and breaking constantly.

I’ve always dreamed of having long hair, but couldn’t justify the effort and price for something that I could just try to wait to grow out and would only last a few months. I’ve heard tape ins ruin your hair and glue is just as bad. My hair isn’t capable of handling the strain, and when I read about the vogue pearl technique, I assumed that it would be just as bad for your hair as the others.

I was so wrong. After some solid research, and many different consultations with different salons and hair quality, I finally bit the bullet with the extensionist, I was always coming back to their page over and over. I had my original hair done by Megan, and I’ve had touch ups by Alyssa.

The process was great. Customer service? Amazing.

Colour match?

I can’t even.

I was prepared for a bit of unevenness given my hair type and what my end goal was (22” of white hair), but I was open to building up to my final result as I’m well aware it’s next to impossible to replicate exactly what a person wants in one sitting. I was willing to go more brunette in an attempt to save/blend my hair a little easier

I went with 16” to avoid a “mullet” look, and I’m BLESSED that Emily recommended a shorter length, instead of agreeing with 22”, having me pay extra and hope for the best, she gave me her honest opinion and was solely trying to make me look my best, and did a beautiful job with fixing up my natural hair in prep for extensions. Megan did my install, absolutely PERFECT. Not too tight, beautiful cut and colour, (styled by Tiffany, great job and wish I could curl my hair just as well)

I left feeling so confident. The colour match was absolutely invisible, blending was immaculate.

VERY rarely can you straighten blonde hair with extensions and not be able to tell, and I’m so thankful to say I actually can.

I get complimented ALL the time, asking if it’s my real hair. They were also able to keep the colour, without going any darker which I assumed would be impossible (apparently not for these talented beauties)

I’ve had a touch up by Alyssa, who was so kind and personable with such a passion for what she does, and also just had Sasha do a touchup, also so sweet and genuine, so good at what she does.

Overall, my hair is lasting BEAUTIFULLY (two months in and I’m still in awe), and the colour hasn’t needed a single touchup.

If you’re sitting on the fence about extensions, go in for a consultation and they will HOOK YOU IN FOREVER.

I love this place, and I adore all the girls that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting along the way. I genuinely feel welcomed, I don’t feel embarrassed to walk in and feel out of place.

I’ve been seeing Amanda for the past 1.5 years, and I can honestly say she has completely transformed not just my hair, but my entire experience with extensions. When I first came to her, my hair was in a very fragile state - extremely bleach damaged, thinning, and broken from past extension nightmares that were high-maintenance, wildly expensive, and only made things worse. from the very first appointment, I knew Amanda was an expert. She matched and blended my extensions perfectly, despite the challenges of my hair’s condition. For reference, I had shoulder length (very broken, very thin) hair and my goal was hip length , she made it happen seamlessly. The quality of the hair she uses is phenomenal. I only just had my first new set of hair, but after 1.5 years, my original set still looked and felt amazing. My four-week touch-ups are unbelievably easy. I’m in and out in about 30 minutes which truly makes the process as low maintenance as possible. Unbelievably, my natural hair has grown SO much and feels so much healthier, it’s genuinely the best work out there. Amanda is also so accommodating with scheduling and makes it easy to get in with work friendly hours. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and genuinely enjoyable. Ruby, her sweet dog, is the absolute cherry on top. And shoutout to Madeleine who is also absolutely incredible, her scalp massages during a shampoo are UNREAL. They are SUCH a dream team and my visits are always filled with snacks, giggles and I leave feeling like I just left a hang out with good friends.

I truly can’t say enough good things. I feel incredibly lucky to have found The Extensionist and I will never go anywhere else.

The Extensionist Salon is amazing! First of all, I have tried so many types of extension (nano bead, micro bead, tape in, weave) I have very fine hair and all the other methods destroyed my hair and my extensions never looked natural.

I finally found the Extensionist Salon and their method is ONE OF A KIND and totally worth every penny spent! Not only did I love my hair but I always have a great experience when I go in to get touched up. Their staff is so friendly, they listen to your concerns, and are super friendly!

I always leave looking fabulous and I would never switch to a different method! Totally satisfied and highly recommend checking them out!

I’m so glad Leslie is the one taking care of my extensions! I wasn’t sure I’d love them as much as I do, but I’m genuinely enjoying my new hair, and I’m not at all self-conscious about my short layers, because you can’t even see the wefts. The colour match is perfect, and Leslie is fun, friendly, and incredibly professional. I was thrilled to learn my hair wasn’t too short or too fine for extensions. Leslie uses Vogue Pearl extensions and always ensures the integrity of my natural hair during move-ups. I feel so much more confident and pretty. Plus, I finally have a reason to buy cute scrunchies and wear ponytails and pigtails again! I highly recommend Leslie to anyone considering extensions. Her experience and attention to detail really show.

Oh. My. Goodness. The quality of service and attention, the aesthetic, the extensions themselves and the variety of colours to pick from, convenient parking located in a parkade (you know how 17th is), and the general kindness/chillness of the staff. If I could rate more stars I would.

Today I was 15 minutes late to a 30 min appt, (obvs wouldn’t suggest this as to respect the employees and demands of their schedule), but I was able to be accommodated and didn’t get s*it on about being late - I wish I caught the name of the girl who did my touch up, but she’s from Kelowna and has black hair. She did a great job!

I also want to add that I have a pretty bad math disability, and it took me about 15 minutes to pay the first time I came because there was a promo going on. Megan (one of the founders who did my original install) took the time to help me with payment and made me feel comfortable and not judged. Same with when it came to discussing tougher topics surrounding trichotillomania, self image and anxiety. This place is so much more than a salon!

I have to say I was so skeptical on getting weft extensions that stay in, as I usually wear clip ins as well I had a bad experience with beaded wefts before from another place. They had used way too much hair and didn’t use enough beads to hold the weight and it was so uncomfortable and heavy I had to take it out myself the same night. I have been following the EXTENSIONIST for years and after so long of debating I decided to go for it! It was definitely the best decision I have ever made! I don’t think I will ever be able to not have them now! Thank you so much for such a great experience and for the awesome service and kindness from everyone at the salon!
